The Magewell Director Mini is an all-in-one live production switcher featuring a 5.44-inch AMOLED touchscreen, integrating multi-source video input, scene switching, live streaming and recording into a single compact device. It accepts 2 HDMI 2.0 and 3 USB video inputs, and also supports NDI (HX2 / HX3 / High Bandwidth), SRT, RTMP and RTSP IP streams as well as phone camera sources, with up to 4K input and 1080p output. Built-in Wi-Fi 2.4G / 5G, Bluetooth 5.0 and Ethernet are complemented by Network Bonding support for greater streaming reliability. Up to four simultaneous streaming destinations are supported, along with ISO recording, encoding output in H.264 or H.265 for platforms including YouTube, Twitch and Facebook Live. Weighing approximately 404g, the Director Mini can be powered by AC adapter or dual hot-swappable NP-F batteries, making it ideal for live events, sports production, online education and other professional live production applications that demand high mobility.

How many sources can the Director Mini accept simultaneously?

It accepts 2x HDMI 2.0, 3x USB (2x Type-A + 1x Type-C), plus NDI, SRT, RTMP, RTSP and phone camera IP sources. Up to three IP sources can be added to the same show simultaneously. Multiple sources can be composed into multi-view layouts within a single scene.

What is the maximum output resolution and frame rate?

Streaming and recording output is up to 1080p 60fps (H.264 or H.265), with bitrate up to 30.0Mbps (up to 62.0Mbps for NDI HX3). 4K signals can be used as input sources, but the output is fixed at 1080p or below.

Can it operate standalone without an external display?

Yes. The built-in 5.44-inch AMOLED touchscreen (1920x1080, 405 PPI) allows direct finger control of scene switching, GFX overlays, audio adjustment and streaming — no external display or computer required.

How is the Director Mini powered in the field?

It supports dual NP-F battery packs (DC 7.4V, not supplied) with hot-swap capability, allowing battery replacement without interrupting a live stream. It can also be powered simultaneously by AC adapter (12V/3.5A), with maximum power consumption of 15W.
